So I told him I was into him... Men's answers appreciated as well!?

After reading many answers about girls wanting to know if guys had crushes on them etc, I decided to take the leap and tell the guy I've had the hots for that I liked him. It was as I was leaving so it would be a little less awkward, so we didn't really get a chance to discuss what I said. I told him that I liked him, then he said "Really? awww!" Then I sort of left. Later on I got a message from him saying that I made his day. What do you think? Should I keep trying? Could he be into me?
