Tax rebate confusion...?

The stimulus check that you received in 2008 was actually for 2008. Since the government did not have a crystal ball to predict how much money you would make in 2008, they used your 2007 return to estimate. If your 2008 income actually qualified you for a larger rebate, you could make up that difference when you filed your 2008 return. Before you entered your rebate amount the software umed that you did not get a rebate and that you would get the full $900 at this point.
